Crab Bash Extreme a Great Success

August 28, 2018

The second annual New District Brewing Company Crab Bash was a tremendous success.  More than 60 friends, family members, neighbors and seafood lovers gathered this past Sunday to enjoy crabs and barbecue, in addition to enjoying New District’s beers.  In all, the guests went through nearly 6 bushels of crabs, and a substantial amount of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and more.  It was a great way to spend a fun summer afternoon.  Thanks to the fisherman at Kent Point in Maryland for the crabs and the Four Mile Run Grill Masters for the barbecue.

August Packed Full of Activities at New District

August 10, 2018

Even though Labor Day is less than a month away, New District Brewing is going full-steam ahead through the remaining weeks of the summer.  There are three more Dog Club Wednesday left in August as well as three more Trivia Night games.  (And both of those will continue into the fall, of course.)  There will be two live bands – Two Blue (Aug 17th) and 40 Miles Home (Aug 24th).

On Sunday the 26th, New District Brewing will host its third Annual Crab Boil. It’s bigger. It’s better. It’s Crab Bash: Extreme!

We’re partnering with local Four Mile Run Grill Masters to provide an amazing culinary and craft brew-ary experience. Each ticket gets you unlimited crabs, potatoes, corn, brats, ribs, chicken, kielbasa, brisket, pulled pork, sides and 2 beers. The possibilities are endless!

TICKETS ARE LIMITED AND WILL NOT BE SOLD DAY OF.  Buy your tickets today, this event sold out last year and it WILL sell out again! (Tickets are $50 plus a small service fee)

And not to worry… September is going to be filled with great activities as well.  We’ll see the return of The Walkaways on the 28th, and we will host our second annual Valley Fest on the 30th.

The Smithsonian Visits New District

August 3, 2018

Smithsonian STEM educators visited New District Brewery this past week to learn how math & science are applied in a brewery setting.  Head brewer Michael Sutherland pictured below explained that math concepts like Newtonian cooling, and fluid dynamics play an everyday role in the brewing process. In addition, solution & dilution chemistry, and biology are in use every day at New District. Thanks to all our STEM educators! Your work is not unnoticed.

Busy weekend kicks off with beer release and second Dog Club day

July 10, 2018

There’s a lot going on this weekend at New District.  In fact, it’s so busy that the weekend is starting early!

Wednesday will see the release of the brewery’s very popular Honeysuckle Hefeweizen.  Made from fresh honeysuckle flowers gathered by staff and volunteers, this beer is always a customer favorite.    Also on Wednesday, New District will host its second Dog Club Members Only Wednesday.  Customers wishing to bring their dogs into the brewery on Wednesday must be members of the New District Dog Club.  Customers not already members can apply at the brewery.  The bartending staff are ready to help you out.

Thursday is Trivia Night as always, and on Friday, we will see the return of the beers from Portner Brew House.  The response has been great so far, and we’re glad that we were able to work with them to get these great beers out to the community.  Check our Home Page for updated tap lists.

Saturday kicks off National Ice Cream Day, and New District is participating in a big way.  We are teaming up with our neighbors at Ben & Jerry’s to offer a fantastic treat – a New District Flight each paired with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.  It doesn’t get any better than that, does it!  Tickets are going to go fast, so get them while you can.  Visit the Eventbrite registration page to purchase your tickets.

New District Taps Portner Brewhouse’s Final Beers

June 21, 2018

On Friday, June 22, 2018, New District will tap several selections from the Portner Brewhouse beer line-up including the Virginia Craft Brewers Festival Cup Bronze Medal Winning Portner Porter. Many of these beers – which are the final ones produced by Portner –  will be from a collection of brews based on reconstructed recipes from the Robert Portner Brewing Company, the South’s largest pre-Prohibition brewery, which operated in Alexandria, VA from 1869 to 1916.

The Portner name has been part of the brewing community for generations. New District Brewing believes the community deserves the chance to enjoy Portner Brewhouse’s award-winning beer, and they are happy to welcome Portner Brewhouse’s friends and fans to NDBC.

Don’t miss this opportunity! Supplies will be limited, so stop by soon before it’s too late.  New District’s full line-up will continue to be available. Visit the Homepage to see the current on-tap list.  The New District tasting room opens at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

New District collaborates with Arlington’s Northside Social

On Tuesday June 19th, Northside Social celebrated the release of the new Northside Kölsch which was brewed by New District Brewing Company. Despite the threat of thunderstorms, the outside patio at Northside was lively as guests enjoyed live music as well as the newly released beer.  The team at Northside Social was really happy that the two Arlington businesses could work together to make this happen.  The Northside Kölsch will be available at Northside Social’s Clarendon location as well as its new Falls Church location through the summer. But if the release party is any indication, the new beer will sell quickly!
