Valley Fest 2018 – What’s In Store
The second annual Arlington Valley Fest is just around the corner, and a lot of work as gone into making sure this year’s event is even better than last year.
First, Valley Fest will be larger than last year. Not only will S Oakland Street be closed, but the parking lot at the north end of the Shirlington Dog Park will be closed as well. This means more space for patrons, performers, food vendors and artisans. Visitors are encouraged to park in Shirlington and walk across the foot bridge over the Four Mile Run.
Beer lovers will need to purchase a “Beer Package” which will include three pours of your favorite New District beer as well as a cool commemorative Valley Fest “mason jar” style glass. We will be releasing our new Oktoberfest beer that day. Beer packages will be sold on-site, but you can still purchase discounted tickets on our Valley Fest Eventbrite page. There will be two beer stations, one inside the brewery itself, and another outside in the parking lot.
Valley Fest is free and open to the public. It will be a fun and family-friendly celebration with something for everyone. The day will feature performances by local and regional bands and arts organizations. Local artisans will be displaying their crafts and wares, including pottery, woodworking and more. There will be a day-of pop-up art display made from recycled tires. These tires were donated from Automotive Express in the Four Mile Run Valley (from over 70 vehicles!) Artist Claire Lynch cut and painted them in hundreds of pieces to form this art piece. There will also be a Kids Zone full of activities and crafts for the young visitors to create their own works of art.
The entertainment lineup is fantastic as well. It will include 40 Miles Home (which played at New District this summer), One Identity, Jane Franklin Dance, Educational Theatre Company, as well as Jason Trawick and the Common Good. Food vendors will include Hula Girl in Shirlington, Nauck Youth Enterprises (known for its fish fry Fridays at New District,) and the famous Four Mile Run barbecue crew.
Join us next Sunday, September 30th from noon to 5pm for Valley Fest 2018!
